PROFILE/DESCRIPTION

Most everyone in this school can agree that the boys’ bathroom is an absolute and terrible mess, namely the bathroom located in the gym lobby. For those that do not use the boys’ bathroom, the state of it is of no concern. However, this cannot be said for those that do.

If the state of the bathroom was to be described using one word, it would be “catastrophe”. Ceiling tiles are missing, the mirrors are broken, and stall doors have been torn off. The main door to the bathrooms have been chained open, allowing passerby view of the inside. At times, the bathrooms have even been locked by school administration, making them entirely inaccessible. All of this is due to vandalism, which often occurs in the bathrooms.

GOALS

In our work, we* hope to address a specific aspect of the problem: lack of privacy. The illustration is designed to invoke a feeling of discomfort, in hopes that those who see it will be “put in someone else’s shoes”, understanding why the state of the bathrooms is an issue of significance, and inviting them to do what they can to prevent further vandalism. Not everyone may use the boys’ bathrooms, but lack of privacy is a serious concern that no one wants to be subjected to, especially not those that do.
