PROFILE/DESCRIPTION

The new basketball team that will be joining the Nepal Basketball League (NBL) will be called ‘The Elite Gurkhas’. It was formed by the commissioner of the league Samriddha Magar, who wanted to raise more opportunities for more young Nepalese basketball players, and give them a chance after seeing an increase in viewership in the past few months. The team name comes from the Nepalese soldiers who were recruited into the British army, for the last 200 years. They are known to be fearless in battle.
