PROFILE/DESCRIPTION

This poster is designed to help maintain flow on the stairwells of AHS. Currently, during times of high traffic such as at passing periods, the start and end of breaks, and the start and end of the school day, the stairwells become crowded and people begin to move all over attempting to push their way through. This disorganization leads to further congestion and only slows down the flow even more. While some amount of crowding is inevitable, particularly at the entrances/exits to each floor where people must cross in front of others to get on or off, not all of it is and on the stairs themselves an orderly system would help alleviate slow flow. This poster attempts to create that orderly flow by reminding people to follow common norms like keeping to the right (or the left if you're feeling British), which are effective on roads in most of the world, as well as in other pedestrian traffic situations. The second part of the poster addresses another part of the problem causing slow flow, that being people stopping or slowing to talk to their friends, look at their phones, or otherwise doing something that is not walking up the stairs. A simple reminder to keep moving will hopefully encourage people to avoid slowing down others on the stairs. This poster would be placed in the hallways near the stairways or in the stairways.
